Texas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates™) chooses someone to honor who demonstrates passionate and effective advocacy for the well-being of Texas’ children and an unwavering
dedication to making a real difference in the communities they serve.
The Lone Star Champions For Kids Celebration recognizes strong supporters of public-private volunteer partnerships like CASA, as well as those who serve as exceptional advocates for children within our state. On Wednesday, April 18, 2007, several hundred guests attended a reception and awards ceremony honoring Attorney General Greg Abbott. As the state’s chief law enforcement official and top lawyer, Attorney General Greg Abbott takes very seriously his charge to protect families and values. Throughout his years as a public servant, Attorney General Abbott has made children, especially those who are victims of child abuse and neglect, a top priority. For the fourth year in a row, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is our Presenting Sponsor of the 2007 Lone Star Champions For Kids Celebration.
