CASA volunteers are special. They provide essential one-on-one love, guidance, and hope for a safe, permanent home to the children they advocate for. No child should have to navigate the child welfare system without a CASA volunteer by their side.

However, fewer than half of the children in state protective custody have assistance and support from a CASA volunteer or CASA program. Our vision is to provide a CASA volunteer to EVERY child who needs one.

Thanks to generous gifts from donors like you, Texas CASA is working towards this vision every day. Some of the accomplishments we’ve achieved with the support of our statewide community include:

• Enhanced local CASA programs’ volunteer recruitment efforts through Recruitment 360, interactive educational workshops involving CASA staff, volunteers and board members designed to create a CASA volunteer-centered culture at the organization. To date more than 1,000 new CASA volunteers have been recruited to advocate for children currently going through the court system.

• Advocated in the Texas Legislature for changes in the child protection system and additional government funding for local CASA programs to recruit more CASA volunteers and serve more children;

• Developed a special website – http://www.becomeacasa.org – to increase awareness of volunteer opportunities and assist local CASA programs in Texas with their volunteer recruitment efforts, and

• Expanded local CASA programs’ capacity to raise money and resources from their community through training, education, and special grants made possible by the Swalm Endowment Fund at Texas CASA and the Speak Up for Kids 5K Series presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. 

Make a Difference to Children ACROSS Texas. With your gift to Texas CASA, you can help the CASA program(s) both in your community AND around the state with their efforts to provide the very best volunteer advocacy for children who have been removed from their home due to abuse and/or neglect.

 

HOW CAN I HELP?
